Production and exhibition under the motto, ‘Spinning & Weaving — loom of the fruits’
When in 1993 one of the most important employers, the weaving-mill, in Ebensee went bankrupt, 140 people, mainly women, lost their jobs from one day to the next. In commemoration of the original function of the building, the staff members of the counselling association are installing a loom and working during the festival on a large carpet into which, apart from textiles, will be woven also unusual materials such as old video cassettes, music cassettes, bicycle rubber, washing-lines, plastic sacks and other disposable materials. Weaving together is the motto: visitors are invited to weave in materials they have brought along with the weavers of the counselling association. On the festival’s last day, the carpet is to be publicly auctioned.
