KLANGfestival

Thanks to the cooperation between the Festival of Regions, Kulturpool Gusental & KLANGfestival, the activities of the final weekend of the Festival of Regions 2023 took place in Gallneukirchen.

KLANGfestival took place on 30 June and 1 July 2023 in the enchanting Altes Hallenbad in Gallneukirchen, a public swimming pool that has not been used as such since 2013 and became the home base for the festival and several other cultural activities in the region. KLANGfestival built its programme around the FdR festival theme Höchste Eisenbahn (High Time) and centered its activities around the motto IN~DELAY as a comment on the burning issues of our time. This referred to the acoustic effects of reverberation or echo, but also to the delayed implementation of climate policy measures, and to the vacancy of purpose and the necessary reuse of public spaces such as the Altes Hallenbad. The dense musical programme was enriched by visuals, interactive installations and performances.

As its own artistic contribution to the FdR, the cultural association KLANGfolger produced a video game that refers to how the processes of gamification of art and culture offer innovative possibilities for participation. KLANGfenigma makes the history of the KLANGfestival playable and deconstructible.
