FREI.LAND is a temporary intervention that consists of 50 small sculptures – concrete chickens ready to be fried – on the Old Innbrücke, opposite the bronze “Gockel Walter”. As a reaction to and an extension of an existing work, the installation creates an exciting contrast between the heroic individual and the anonymous crowd, reduced to its mere meat value. “FREI.LAND” addresses power and powerlessness, prosperity and poverty, inflated masculinity and invisible female labor. The sculptures deal with questions of social values and their unequal distribution, addressing patriarchal structures, heteronormativity, and queer perspectives. A silent revolution made of concrete, between dream and reality.
