Die Braunauer Stadtnäherin
The Braunau City Seamstress creates a public workplace on the city square of Braunau, where she will process textiles brought by the public into a patchwork quilt. The residents give up a piece of their belongings and become part of a “local fabric”. Each textile is marked with the initials of the person who brings it and incorporated into a growing quilt map of the town’s population. The resulting work will remain in Braunau after completion. The installation not only invites active participation, but also exchange – a collective, living image of the community, in the middle of public space.
