Two cubic objects, reminiscent of memorials despite their industrial materiality and aesthetic were placed at the train station in Gaisbach-Wartberg. They were covered in drawings of human figures and regional landscape motifs and showed timeless but also utopian scenes.
The two sculptures reminded us of the fact that the world we live in is a construction of individual elements that all hold their own unique positions. We can make the world worse through war, climate catastrophes, or injustice, but as human beings we also have the ability to shield the world from this harm.
The project by Kateryna Lysonvenko shone a light on the history of the region, even though the look back at the National Socialist past, was simultaneously a closer look at current developments.
