The Bussi group explores the stories of buildings in the Innviertel region that have been taken out of service or are scheduled for demolition, documents their past and brings them back to life on the edge of Braunau’s old town. In collaboration with the Lebenshilfe Braunau organization, an open space is being created for lingering, dreaming, and rethinking space and community. Together with their colleagues from Lebenshilfe Braunau and visitors, the group wants to reflect on how (public) space is shaped and constantly redefined by conflicting political interests. In this sense, the jointly constructed structure should be seen as a starting point for a shared imagining of new spaces and architectures for Braunau. A video installation in an adjacent, empty tobacconist’s documents the process of dismantling the barn. For one week, the small park on the Ringstrasse will become a workshop in which the city and the region enter into dialogue. The performative settlement is the means – the question remains: what can be built after dismantling old structures?
